Start with three decisions: check whether your product is within the CRA’s scope, identify every role your organisation performs, and classify the product correctly.
Choose a task
- Does the CRA apply to my product? — check the product, data connection, commercial activity and exclusions.
- What is my role? — manufacturer, importer, distributor, authorised representative or open-source software steward.
- Which product category applies? — default, important class I or II, or critical product.
- Which dates apply? — see application dates and transitional provisions.
- Which other laws interact with the CRA? — find the legal context and related EU rules.
If the answer is uncertain, retain your reasoning and supporting evidence. You will need it for risk assessment, conformity and role-specific obligations.
